Bonne et heureuse année MMX à toutes et à tous! Que cette année soit belle et fructueuse, que votre santé soit florissante, que Son règne arrive! Tant de souhaits à vous adresser mais en particulier celui d'apprécier tout ce qui est à notre portée, nous qui sommes nés libres dans un pays riche!
Voici un survol des activités des Laïcs missionnaires de Notre-Dame d'Afrique (LMNDA) depuis le mois d'août 2009.Prières. Oui, comme vous le savez déjà, ce sont les prières qui nous portent dans nos missions et les nombreux exemples de l'intervention divine dont nous sommes témoins en font foi. Un grand merci à tous ceux et celles qui prient pour nous. Priez encore et toujours!
140e anniversaire de fondation des SMNDA. Le 19 septembre, SMNDA et LMNDA étaient réunis à Cartierville pour célébrer cet événement important. C'est le cœur en fête que tous ont accueilli les partages, les prières, la célébration eucharistique présidée par le Père Julien Cormier, MA. La rencontre s'est terminée dans la joie, par un repas de circonstance : un savoureux couscous.

Journée LMNDA/SMNDA du 28 novembre 2009. Une vingtaine de participants se sont rassemblés à l'occasion de cette dernière assemblée de l'année. Pour en savoir plus et voir des photos, consultez le site http://soeurs-blanches.cef.fr/reunion21nov09.htm
Viviane Lafrenière, SMNDA est toujours à Gatineau (près de chez-nous!) et poursuit son année de repos après une période de travail intensif au PIFM. Colette Joubert assure la relève.
Madeleine Lacoursière, SMNDA a été très malade à la fin de 2009 et récupère lentement à l'infirmerie de Cartierville. Reviens vite à la santé belle Madeleine!
Jean-Jacques et Francine Allaire partiront le 17 janvier pour un nouveau séjour de trois mois en Tanzanie. Avec la chambre " self contained " que le curé de Murutunguru leur réserve dans son presbytère, ils pourront passer plus de temps auprès des enfants handicapés et de leurs familles. Bonne mission à nous!Josiane Charbonneau Malgré son vif désir de retourner à Mwanza pour une deuxième année, Josiane n'a pas eu l'autorisation des responsables du projet à cause de son intolérance aux prophylactiques de la malaria et de ses nombreux accès de malaria pendant sa première année là-bas. Lise Daviau prévoyait retourner sur l'île d'Ukerewe pour poursuivre sa mission dans le cadre du Programme d'aide aux enfants handicapés de l'île d'Ukerewe mais a dû y renoncer pour cause d'obligations familiales. La mission nous appelle ici ou ailleurs.
Cécile Gamache nous donne des nouvelles de Yellowknife, TNO, où elle travaille à la pouponnière d'une garderie en milieu francophone. Malgré des semaines de 46 à 48 heures, il y a toujours quelque chose à faire : planification d'activités, lavage des débarbouillettes, tabliers, bavettes, désinfection des jouets, du mobilier, etc., sans compter les décorations à monter, à démonter, etc. Autrement, elle adore les petits qui font des progrès, marchent tout à coup, disent un nouveau mot, font une découverte, une construction, une nouvelle grimace… Depuis le début octobre, c'est vraiment l'hiver avec la neige, le givre ou le verglas, le froid. Le soleil se lève à 9 h et les heures de clarté sont très réduites.Marcel et Claire Lizotte continuent leur collecte de fonds pour faire creuser des puits à Ukerewe. Louisanne et Robert Ouellette ont repris leurs activités professionnelles et familiales après deux années passées à Mwanza en Tanzanie. Louisanne a laissé un jardin de plantes médicinales, des herbes capables de prévenir la gradation du VIH. Quand à Robert, outre ses projets d'enseignement de l'informatique aux jeunes, il a laissé un système de gestion efficace. Lors de leur départ, ils ont vu des signes encourageants que ce qu'ils ont semé croîtra.

Carmen Lessard doit prendre une pause pour s'occuper de sa santé, et compte sur nos prières à toutes et tous. Bon courage Carmen!
Manon Fleury est installée à Mwanza où elle s'occupe d'enfants maltraités.
Gaston et Louise Cantin ont terminé leur deuxième année du PIFM en décembre et poursuivent leur période d'immersion.La Fondation Lavigerie vient en aide aux LMNDA et participe à leurs projets de cueillette de fonds destinés à leurs missions en Afrique.

Happy New Year MMX to all! May this year be beautiful and rich in new experiences, may your health be flourishing, may His kingdom come! So many wishes to send but particularly this one: may we appreciate all that is given to us, who were born free in a rich country!
Here is an overview of what Lay Missionaries of Our Lady of Africa (LMOLA) have experienced since August 2009.Prayers. Yes, as you already know, it is prayers that carry us through our missions and the examples of divine intervention in our missions are numerous. Sincere thanks to all of you who pray for us. 140th Anniversaire of Foundation of MSOLA. On Septembre 19, MSOLA and LMOLA gathered in Cartierville to celebrate this important event. With great joy in their hearts, participants welcomed the sharing of information, the prayers, and took part in the celebration of the Eucharist presided by Father Julien Cormier, MA. This joyful gathering ended with a fitting meal : a delicious couscous.

Viviane Lafrenière, MSOLA is still in Gatineau (close to us!) and continues her year of rest after an intense period of work with the PIFM. Colette Joubert is taking over during her absence.
Madeleine Lacoursière, MSOLA was very sick at the end of 2009 and is recovering slowly at the Cartierville infirmary since January 9. We hope you get well soon Madeleine!
Jean-Jacques and Francine Allaire will leave of January 17 for another three month stay in Tanzania. With the " self contained " room that the parish priest of Murutunguru offered them in the rectory, they will be able to spend more time with handicaped children and their families. Despite her ardent desire to return to Mwanza for a second year, the people in charge of the project did not authorize Josiane to do so because of her intolerance to malaria prophylaxis and her many bouts of malaria during her first year there. Lise Daviau was planning to return to Ukerewe Island in 2010 to pursue her mission with the Handicaped Children Program but had to postpone it because of family obligations. The mission calls us here or elsewhere.
Cécile Gamache sends news from Yellowknife, TNO, where she works in the nursery of a daycare centre. Despite putting in 46 to 48 hour weeks, there is always something to be done : event planning, washing face cloths, aprons, bibs, disinfecting toys, furniture, etc., as well as putting up decorations, taking them down, etc. Otherwise, she loves the little ones who make progress, start to walk, say a new word, make discoveries, build something, or make a funny face… Since the beginning of October, winter is here with snow, frost and ice, and cold temperatures. The sun rises at 9a.m. and the hours of daylight are getting shorter.
Marcel and Claire Lizotte continue their fund raising activities in view of building wells on Ukerewe Island. They plan to go back to the island in 2011. See their website at http://www.wellsfortheisland.ca/
Louisanne and Robert Ouellette resumed their professional and family activities after spending two years in Mwanza, Tanzania. Louisanne left a garden of medicinal plants that can prevent the gradation of HIV. As for Robert, apart from his projects to teach informatics to young people, he left an efficient management system. When they left, there were encouraging signs that what they sowed will grow.

Carmen Lessard had to stop her work in Burkina Faso to take care of her health. She asks for our prayers. We love you Carmen!
Manon Fleury is now in Mwanza where she cares for mistreated children.
Gaston and Louise Cantin completed their second year of PIFM in December and are pursuing their immersion period.
The Fondation Lavigerie supports LMOLA and takes part in their fund raising projects towards their mission in Africa.Until next time!
